Follow these steps to prevent your MetaTrader 4 terminal from automatically updating. This ensures your custom EAs and indicators remain stable.
Step 1: Extract the Disable Files
Locate the “MT4 Auto Update Disable” ZIP file on your computer. Right-click and extract the contents to a folder you can easily access.

Step 2: Copy the Configuration Files
Inside the extracted folder, you will see three files. Select them all, right-click, and choose Copy.

Step 3: Access MT4 Root Directory
Go to your MT4 installation folder (usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\...). Paste the files here. When the system asks, select “Replace the files in the destination.”

Step 4: Execute the Batch File
Find the file named MT4 Auto Update Disable.bat. Double-click it to run the script. If prompted by Windows Defender, click “Run anyway.”

Step 5: Confirm Command Prompt
A black command window will appear. Type ‘Y’ on your keyboard and press Enter to confirm the action. The script will now lock the update folder.

Launch your MT4 terminal. Your platform is now secured against automatic updates. You can verify this by checking the version in Help > About.

How to Install DLL/Patch File by MQL5Bot
Important Notice for DLL Installation on MT4/MT5
NOTE: Disable your antivirus before downloading or installing DLL products if you are using a personal computer or laptop.
Alternatively, you can install DLL files directly without disabling your antivirus by using a VPS. Please note that DLL files do not work on MacOS! Ensure you are using Windows 10/11 or Windows Server 2016 or earlier.
Step-by-Step Guide to Install DLL Files on MT4/MT5
1. Navigate to the MT4/MT5 Installation Directory
- Right-click on the MT4/MT5 shortcut on your desktop or in your start menu.

Open file location. - This will take you directly to the root folder/installation folder.
- Alternatively, you can manually navigate to the directory, typically found at:

2. Copy and Paste DLL Files
Copy all necessary DLL files such as fix folders, DLL files, launcher.exe, and terminal.exe into the root folder/installation folder of MT4/MT5.
3. Run Launcher.exe
Use launcher.exe instead of terminal.exe. You can create a desktop shortcut to make it easier to access. You will need to use the launcher every time you open the terminal to ensure the DLL files work correctly. If you do not use the launcher, the DLL files will not function properly.
4. Double-Check the Installation
Ensure that everything has been copied correctly to the root folder/installation folder of MT4/MT5.
5. Configure Expert Advisors
For some products or EAs, you may need to add certain URLs. Open launcher.exe, go to Tools > Options, select the Expert Advisors tab, check Allow DLL imports and Allow WebRequest for listed URL, and enter the required URLs in the provided field.
6. Copy the EA File
Copy the EA file by navigating to File > Open Data Folder, then go into the MQL4/MQL5 folder and copy the file to the appropriate folder.
7. Load the EA onto the Chart
Load the EA onto your chart. At this point, the product should be active because the DLL files are working correctly.
